Opening ceremony of new laboratories

Friday, October 10th, we celebrated the 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝟱𝟬𝟬 𝗺² 𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 in Offenburg, a major step forward for Picea Biosolutions. Located in the Flow 1986 building, the innovation campus on the CANVAS22 site in Offenburg, the new facility places us at the center of a growing ecosystem focused on sustainable technologies and cross-sector innovation. From idea to realization in less than two years, this project was only possible thanks to the strong support of many, including City of Offenburg and Black Forest Innovation GmbH.

Fitting a state-of-the-art biotechnology facility into a solid wood building with a low ceiling was a unique challenge, but thanks to the exceptional effort of the construction teams and architects we made it possible, combining sustainable infrastructure with high technical complexity. As a company dedicated to biosolutions for a sustainable future, opening the first laboratory of its kind in an all-wood building reflects our commitment to uniting advanced biotechnology with environmental responsibility. We like to thank all construction parties and planners involved.

Our new building expands our laboratory space by a factor of four and includes dedicated areas for automation, computational biology, upstream and downstream bioprocess development as well as clean labs. With this expansion we are 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗲𝗻𝘇𝘆𝗺𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, turning innovative concepts into scalable technologies.

We would like to thank all those who made the new building and laboratories possible, as well as 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗹𝗮𝗯 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀. We are excited to begin the next chapter of our work here and look forward to sharing new developments from our research and bioprocess programs soon.

Picea’s Expansion – Start of Lab construction

August 4th marked a major milestone for Picea Biosolutions: The installation work on our new laboratory officially began. After more than two years of detailed planning, this vision is now becoming a reality.

Our new facility offers over four times our current lab space, featuring dedicated areas for upstream and downstream bioprocess development, automation, computational biology and controlled environments for sensitive processes. This expansion will significantly strengthen our capabilities in protein, strain, and bioprocess engineering.

Located in Flow1986, the new innovation campus on the CANVAS22 area in Offenburg, our new site places us at the heart of a regional ecosystem focused on innovation, sustainable business models and cross-sector innovation. As a company focused on biosolutions for a sustainable future, establishing the first laboratory of its kind in an all-wood building perfectly aligns with our mission.

We look forward to moving in on October 1st, stay tuned for insights into our completed lab!

Picea Biosolutions celebrates two years of wetlab operations

On September first , we celebrated an exciting milestone: 2 years of wetlab operations at Picea Biosolutions.

Over the past 2 years, we’ve bootstrapped our way under the radar, building an 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆-𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺 (Trichoderma, Pichia, Bacillus) for protein expression. Achievements during our first two years include:

– Growing to an incredible team of 𝟮𝟬+ talented people
– 𝗗𝗼𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 our wet-lab operation space
– Achieving protein expression titers up to 𝟭𝟬𝟬𝗴/𝗟

As we look ahead, we’re gearing up to push our products into the market. Follow Picea Biosolutions (LinkedIn) for more exciting updates!
